OCTOBER IS THE MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY
On 7 October, we celebrate a well-loved memorial in honour of the Rosary, and according to a long-standing tradition, the entire month of October is dedicated to the Most Holy Rosary. In the Rosary, with its sequence of prayers and mysteries, we contemplate the Gospel in company with the Blessed Virgin Mary. As Pope Saint John Paul II wrote in 2002, “The Rosary . . . is a prayer loved by countless Saints and encouraged by the Magisterium. Simple yet profound, it still remains, at the dawn of the third millennium, a prayer of great significance, destined to bring forth a harvest of holiness . . . With the Rosary, the Christian people sits at the school of Mary and is led to contemplate the beauty on the face of Christ and to experience the depth of his love. Through the Rosary the faithful receive an abundant grace, as though from the very hands of the Mother of the Redeemer” (Rosarium Virginis Mariae, 1).

Please pray for everyone who is sick, for the protection of the elderly and the vulnerable, for all who are suffering anxiety and worry, for the NHS medical staff and all who care for the sick. We should also pray for the well-being and financial security of all.
For those who have died and for those whose anniversaries occur at this time. Please remember to pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary. To you God entrusted his only Son; in you Mary placed her trust; with you Christ became man. Blessed Joseph, to us too, show yourself a father and guide us in the path of life. Obtain for us grace, mercy, and courage, and defend us from every evil. Amen.
HOLY FATHER’S PRAYER INTENTION – OCTOBER
The Holy Father invites us to pray For mental health ministry. Let us pray that the mental health ministry be established throughout the Church, helping to overcome the stigma and discrimination of persons with mental illnesses.

"Many are invited, but few are chosen." We thank God for our priests, deacons and religious who have responded to God’s call to serve His people. Take time to thank and pray for all who serve the Church in this meaningful way, and encourage others to consider answering God’s invitation to service.

GOING INTO ST MARY’S HOSPITAL
If you are going into hospital, please notify your priest or local admin office. As access to the hospital may be restricted, a useful suggestion is that the patient carries a note to give to hospital staff on admission notifying staff that they are Catholic and that they would really appreciate a visit from a Catholic priest.

ST PATRICK’S SANDOWN
Following a recent inspection and guidance from both Diocesan Estates and Worknest, in the interest of ensuring safety for all users, the entrance ramp at the front of St Patrick’s church is closed until further investigation work has been carried out.
YEAR 7 ADMISSIONS 2027
As Christ the King College is regularly oversubscribed, ALL families wishing their application to be considered must complete a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) in addition to the Local Authority application form. The SIF is needed even if you are not of faith and even if you are not applying for admission based on faith criteria. Regardless of whether your choices you will not be considered if you have not completed a SIF. If you wish to be considered for the faith criteria for admissions, the SIF must be accompanied by appropriate evidence (eg copy of Baptismal Certificate, Letter from Priest/Vicar/faith leader). This evidence must be uploaded at the time of application. the SIF deadline is the same as the Local Authority application deadline: 31 October 2026. The SIF form can be downloaded HERE
GIFT AID DECLARATION From 1 April 2026 everyone who Gift Aids their contributions to the parish are required to complete an online declaration. This online form replaces the paper forms held by parishes and covers all donations made by a donor to any parish within the Diocese. A new R.C.I.A. group will begin this September, running through until Easter. This welcoming programme is for non-baptized adults, Christians from other churches looking to join the Catholic Church, or baptized Catholics wishing to complete their Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. It is also a wonderful opportunity for anyone wanting to return to or deepen their faith. COFFEE MORNING A new monthly coffee morning organised by the Catholic Women's League will take place on the 3rd Friday of each month from 1100 - 1300 at the Sacred Heart Church Hall starting from Friday 16 October 2026. It will be a chance to meet up and have coffee/tea & cake while raising money for good causes. October's Coffee Morning will be raising money for the Daisy Ring Bus.
