JUNE IS THE MONTH OF THE SACRED HEART

On the Friday following the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Because this solemnity usually falls in June, this month is also known as the “Month of the Sacred Heart.” Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is all about pondering Christ’s love and meditating on Christ’s suffering.

Please pray for everyone who is sick, for the protection of the elderly and the vulnerable, for all who are suffering anxiety and worry, for the NHS medical staff and all who care for the sick. We should also pray for the well-being and financial security of all.

For those who have died and for those whose anniversaries occur at this time. Please remember to pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary. To you God entrusted his only Son; in you Mary placed her trust; with you Christ became man. Blessed Joseph, to us too, show yourself a father and guide us in the path of life. Obtain for us grace, mercy, and courage, and defend us from every evil. Amen.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son." The Trinity’s love calls each of us to respond generously, offering our lives in service and fidelity. In priesthood, this gift is lived out daily through the sacraments, pastoral care, and witnessing Christ’s love to the world. DISCOVER MORE ABOUT THE CATHOLIC FAITH (R.C.I.A.) 

A new R.C.I.A. group will begin this September, running through until Easter. This welcoming programme is for non-baptized adults, Christians from other churches looking to join the Catholic Church, or baptized Catholics wishing to complete their Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. It is also a wonderful opportunity for anyone wanting to return to or deepen their faith. ST MARY’S CHURCH CHOIR  

Supporting the liturgy at St Mary’s on Sunday at 1100 Mass with a rehearsal the previous Friday evening 1800-1900. New members always welcome.

LECTIO DIVINA PRAYER GROUP 

Praying with the forthcoming Sunday Gospel. The Lectio Divina prayer group meets every Tuesday after midday Mass at 1245 - 1400 in The McCauley Centre. ENGAGED AND MARRIED COUPLES RETREAT 

run by the Verbum Dei Community 13-15 June. It wants to explore how Catholic families are called to be "...like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season." CARITAS The Parish Caritas Representative is a new volunteer role to support the Church to reach out to those in need in the wider community. You will connect the parish/pastoral area with Caritas Portsmouth to enable the sharing information, campaigns, initiatives and support. You will also the point of contact within a parish that will enable to the Church to respond to urgent or newly emerging needs in these unpredictable times. No experience is needed for the role, just a passion to put faith into action and to make a difference. GOING INTO ST MARY’S HOSPITAL 

If you are going into hospital, please notify your priest or local admin office. As access to the hospital may be restricted, a useful suggestion is that the patient carries a note to give to hospital staff on admission notifying staff that they are Catholic and that they would really appreciate a visit from a Catholic priest.

is a free and independent support service, providing a confidential, personal and safe space for anyone who has been abused by someone in the Church or as a result of their relationship with the Church of England, the Catholic Church of England and Wales or the Church in Wales.
